Hurricane John was the longest lived tropical cyclone on record, persisting for an entire month in the Pacific ocean. John reached Category 5 status southeast of the Hawaiian islands, and reached a secondary peak intensity close to the International Date Line.
Despite its extensive track, damages were very limited on Johnston Atoll, the Hawaiian islands, and eventually Alaska.
