Oh, life is bigger
It's bigger
Than you and you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper
Of every waking hour
I'm choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up

Consider this
Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I've said too much

Losing my religion is an American idiom, originating, and used largely in the Southern states, meaning to become undone; to lose it; to be beside one's self; overwhelmed by a situation, usually with strong and intense emotion

I'll never forget when I was a young teenager and I lived with my grandparents. I was listening to this and my grandma walked in my room and I thought she was gonna tell me turn it off. She told me I should be listening to more music like REM. I love and miss you grandma.

The story behind this song is quite interesting.
In a interview a coupel years ago with a dutch television show. R.E.M talked about the meaning of the song. He sayd that its about when you love someone and you try to say it but at the last moment you dont becaus you dont have the guts for it and in mean time you dont even know that person you like, likes you back or even knows that you are there.

And today this meaning kinda hit hard. There was a girl at work i really liked but i didt have the guts to tell her. She has a boyfriend now and she is really happy about that. And to behonest i am really happy for her. She deservers to be happy and i dont think i would have been the right person for her.

When i heard the song it kinda hit me. I felt stupid but also kinda relieft. I just needed to leave my comment here clearing my mind.
If anybody reads this: Thank you and goodluck with everything and have a nice day.

Sincirely: Random guy on the internet.
