I really love that so many companies are realizing the potential of electric future. I personally prefer sedans or light trucks over suvs but they're still cool

The GM Equinox EV is STUNNING!!! I was planning to buy a Tesla Model Y but I'll wait for the Equinox EV as I've owned a GM Volt for the past several years and it's a fantastic car! Excited for the all-EV future!!

Yes, yes... high gloss imagery, dynamic driving clips, flickering and shimmering Headlights and rear led stripes.
The designers obviously know what makes people drool for new designed cars.

But when it comes to producing, shipping and informing customers about delivery status, they all fail miserably. Today, 90% of what car manufacturers do is design great cars and make people like and comment their clips and pics. Only 10% is actually building and shipping them.

I am anxious to see the solid state battery technology come. In theory, lighter, better capacity, faster charging and longer life if the battery.

That ev equinox for $30k sounds like appealing to me. The rest is a waste of time. I'll be willing to take a chance until automakers decide to develop a great looking EV sedan, hatchback, or sports vehicle that is inexpensive.

This is of course if they have the chips and batteries to make them. I'm betting we will only see a handful of them on the road in 2023. A token amount.

Currently my favorite EV is the Chinese BYD Han with very nice design and great specs. It’s range is about 400 miles and price starts at around $40, 000. Unfortunately it’s not available in the US.

Tesla has lost me. I as prepared to buy the Y model with the new 4680 battery but Tesla is apparently is reducing the number of cells so the range for now is well below the 400 miles promised is moved to some future date. In 2023 it looks like The Audi E-Tron will be well over 400 miles with a 10 minute charge for 186/miles. Hello Audi. I hope that they can deliver.

A car battery for electric car weighs about 500 kg, the volume is the size of a suitcase. It contains 12 kg of lithium, 30 kg of nickel, 20 kg of manganese, 15 kg of cobalt, 100 kg of copper, 200 kg of aluminium (production is highly electrically closed), steel and plastic. There are 6, 831 lithium cells inside.
You should be concerned that all of these toxic components come from mining. To make a car battery, you have to process 10 tons of salt to make lithium, 15 tons of ore for cobalt, 2 tons of ore to make nickel, and 12 tons of copper ore. In total, 200 tons of soil are ejected for one battery.
Disease and child labor are behind 68% of the world's cobalt and a significant portion of a battery comes from the Congo. Their mines have no pollution control and employ children who die with this toxic material. Should we count all these sick children as part of the cost of an electric car?
