Some Florida coastal residents refuse to leave homes ahead of Hurricane Dorian 4.5
More than four million people on Florida's Atlantic coast are under mandatory orders to evacuate. But the reality is that many of them will stay put, despite Dorian’s threat. That worries emergency responders, who have no way of enforcing the orders. Mark Strassmann reports.

Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs. The broadcast has earned a prestigious Peabody Award, a Polk Award, four News & Documentary Emmys, three Daytime Emmys and the 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast. The broadcast was also honored with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award as part of CBS News division-wide coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Why don't FL homes elevate their concrete foundations? Create a packed structure with gravel, wrap it in plastic, put in rebar, then crown it with concrete like we do in TX. This method allows a cheap well built 3 to 5 ft foundation.

Well yeah you can't have police in SWAT gear drag elderly people from their houses. That's not freedom.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR HOME. NOBODY CAN MAKE YOU LEAVE YOUR HOME. PERIOD.

I STAYED WITH MY HOUSE AND SAVED IT. THE CAMP FIRE.

People are counting on first responders to save them. Putting their lives in danger. That’s selfish!

Cut to the chase. Its always about materialism. Every year around the country you will see people staying to "protect their this or that" Sadly the media never goes back to check up on these people after the storms to see if they made it alive or change their tune.

I understand some people really have no way to leave because they might be super poor or disable but dam Just use the credit card or something. If you can afford to live on the beach just open up the wallet and take a trip to a safer location. Its just property that will depreciate especially after the storm.

Evacuate if you are in harms way. Its not worth it.

The 2 women who are stand in their homes I guess they feel since the hurricane is not making landfall it's no need to basically run away.

Ummmm did anybody actually bother to TRACK the hurricane or did they just listen to the hype and freak out? If you hadnt told me there was a hurricane off the coast, I woukd have thought it was just another rainy day in Florida.

And if ur gonna try to SHAME the ppl who stayed (because they knew better than u) then why dont you NOW shame the idiots who left and are returning after nothing happened?
