Every Time hear Dotti or see her my eyes tear up. She is my favorite female country singer of all time. Beautiful inside and out. I miss her every day. The only one who comes close to her is Jo Dee Messing who I also cherish.

Dottie is speaking the truth. Love this song every time it comes on Willie's Roadhouse.

What a tragedy. As yes she owns this song because she apeaking of her own pain! About 3 weeks before her tragic accident she made the statement she hadn't performed her greatest song yet! We love you Dottie and you will always remember as being 1 of the very top female vocalist!

God rest her soul! One of the greatest female vocalist of all time! I saw her on Opra Winfrey not more than a month before she tragically killed in the fatal car accident on her way to perform at The Grand Ole Opera. What immediately came to my mind was her saying that hadn't had her greatest hit yet. She was a beautiful person inside and out and like many was taken way to soon!

When the remake came out a few years back, I kept wondering why it sounded so familiar. Today the ORIGINAL by Dottie came on Sirrius XM radio while I was working I immediately remembered that my mom and dad used to have this record when I was a kid back in the 70's. It's litterally been 30+ years since I had heard this version. Needless to say, I am deleting the JoDee version off of my iPod in favor of this!

Jo Dee Messina's version is the first one I heard, and while I've always liked it, I think I actually prefer Dottie's version. It's got a great groove to it,  and I love the late 70's/early 80's country style!

On this day in 1980 {April 19th} Billboard Magazine published it's Hot Country Singles chart for the week ending April 19th, 1980...
And for the first time in Country Singles chart history the Top 5 positions were held by female artists::
#1. "It's Like We Never Said Goodbye" by Crystal Gayle
#2. "A Lesson in Leavin'" by Dottie West
#3. "Are You on the Road to Lovin' Me Again" by Debby Boone
#4. "Beneath Still Waters" by Emmylou Harris
#5. "Two Story House" by Tammy Wynette (duet with George Jones)
The following week Ms. West bumped Ms. Gayle out of the top spot, then Ms. Boone replaced Ms. West at #1, and finally Ms. Harris then moved into the #1 position {all four records spent one week each at #1}...
"Two Story House" just missed reaching #1, it peaked at #2...

Good little country crossover tune. Peaked at No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980, But was a much bigger success on the country charts.
