Thank God I am Australian. The US system is bent and broken down, corrupted to the core.

"Rights aren’t rights if someone can take ’em away. They’re privileges, that’s all we’ve ever had in this country, is a bill of temporary privileges. And if you read the news, even badly, you know that every year the list gets shorter and shorter. " - George Carlin

That would be illegal in Swiss votations, you cannot combine unrelated stuff.

So let me get this straight in Florida, you have to wait a minimum of 17 years to get your appeal to vote put infront of a judge who doesn't care one bit? So the chances are after you are released if you become a parent soon after, that child will be old enough to vote before you will?

Also how is it even legal to lump two completely unrelated issues under one vote.

Here in South Africa, even prisoners vote.

Isn’t the point of rights that you can’t take it away?

The fact that in the US your citizenship rights can be taken away for any length of time whatsoever is bloody insane and horrific.

That bundling situation is beyond outrageous. These people shouldn't even be laughing it off, it's a serious problem and needs to be gotten rid of.

The usa voting system is a laughing stock in the whole world. It is a comedy act

With what a scatterbrained, absurd parody of an old man on a permanent LSD trip Trump is, I can't believe he isn't from Florida himself.

In Canada prisoners have the right to vote.

"If they've served their time, they've served their time" (or something to that effect, as said) is incredibly true! X

I dont know why anyone who can get ill would ever vote Republican. I know plenty of doctors and healthcare workers who do, and I cant begrudge them for protecting their bottom line rather than voting in the interest of patients, but why would any educated person vote against their interests?

Amendment 4 YES! SIX MILLION former felons are disenfranchised. They cannot vote but they sure can pay taxes.

Even Trinidad and Tobago would not do this combo mumbo jumbo.

Welcome to the United Slaves Corporation where your only right is to serve your masters, pay ur taxes and shut up .

That is so @#$&ed up! Both combining irrelevant issues on the same ballot and denying free U.S. citizens of any basic constitutional rights whether they are ex-cons or not! Since the government obviously doesn’t recognize ex-cons as citizens, those same ex-cons should NOT have to pay Taxes of any kind! Federal, State, County... If they don’t have the right to vote as a free citizen who has served their time to society, they shouldn’t have to pay! Government has become so corrupt its ridiculous! Needs to be a Re-Set button!

Author — Dean Dwyer

those who cannot vote should not be taxed

trevor sounds a little too real about the crayon, is this a personal trauma?

Author — janusz delondre

Florida is not the only state that denies the vote to ex-cons. Look up "Felony Disenfranchisement" on Wikipedia. Craziness.
