Rest easy, Alan Wilson. Gone 50 years today but never forgotten. We’re still listening to your music.

That drone. That falsetto. Those lyrics. Cold chills.

The driving bass line, the tremolo on the guitar, and the harmonica- this song has an incredible bluesy groove that is just hypnotic.

In my opinion one of the under rated band of all time! Who's listening to this in 2019?

Straight out of the swampy Delta Blues. And, by the way, Pete Townshend loved this song. I guess that's saying a lot since what he was saying in his admiration of this tune is that this is Pure Americana. This is where rock originated from. A blending of multiple forms of music and ways of vocal expression. Canned Heat completely nailed it.

Well, I'm so tired of crying
But I'm out on the road again
I'm on the road again
Well, I'm so tired of crying
But I'm out on the road again
I'm on the road again
I ain't got no woman
Just to call my special friend
You know the first time I traveled
Out in the rain and snow
In the rain and snow
You know the first time I traveled
Out in the rain and snow
In the rain and snow
I didn't have no payroll
Not even no place to go
And my dear mother left me
When I was quite young
When I was quite young
And my dear mother left me
When I was quite young
When I was quite young
She said "Lord, have mercy
On my wicked son"
Take a hint from me, mama
Please don't you cry no more
Don't you cry no more
Take a hint from me, mama
Please don't you cry no more
Don't you cry no more
'Cause it's soon one morning
Down the road I'm going
But I ain't going down
That long old lonesome road
All by myself
But I ain't going down
That long old lonesome road
All by myself
I can't carry you, baby
Gonna carry somebody else

I am 65 and I absolutely love Canned Heat!! They have been my favorite band for my entire life. This was my first look into the world of blues music! I also love being an old hippie. It’s like the world has finally caught up to some of our old habits!

This song rocks. It was great growing up in the fifties and sixties and watching the appearance and evolution of rock and roll. Every week for over a decade it seemed like a new iconic tune was released. ❤😎

man that picture of Canned heat looks just like the group of guys I ran with in the late 60's and the 70's . Right after we got back from Nam, we all had choppers and really raised a lot hell. Stoned or drunk most of the time. That was blast never thought I'd live to be 75. Holy Shit what a ride it's been
