This is brilliant! Finally a good explanation why the romans changed from a citizen to a foreign mercenary army which brought its end.

Those artworks never cease to astonish. Romans lived surrounded by beauty. We would do well to emulate that.

From this remote perspective, we never consider plague hitting Rome, as it seems that as the most modern civilization of its era, it should be immune. The Romans must have thought the same. We should perhaps take warning, when new plagues arise from far places. We may be no more immune, despite modern medicine.

Very enlightening; thank you.

This is one of the least talked about causes for the decline and fall of the Roman empire but it is probably the most accurate Dr. McLaughlin exhibits fine scholarship as I have read both of his books and have enjoyed them immensely thank you for your work Dr. McLaughlin

Your presentation is excellently researched and the evidence indeed points towards loss of manpower in both industry and military, totally plausible reason is a pandemic, Lucius Verus was said to have been a victim of plague in 169AD i seem to recall?

I had always suspected that Antonine Plague led into the Crisis of the Third Century, but no source I read ever seemed to relate the two. A civilization dose not simply lose 10% of its population and a quarter of its income without consequence. Economic, political, and military instability had been brewing for a decades prior to 230 and it mostly appears to stem from the turmoil caused by the plague.

the many interpretation of the end OF THE AMERICAN ROMAN EMPIRE that is now engulfing the planet into a realm of no return/ the 1913 regime of Jekyll island is out of control The puppet emperor "DDT" ready to burn the planet & those that still believe that the 1492 experiment is still working to their own advantage are making a big mistake, by letting everyone believe that NERO knows what he is doing as long they benefit from his actions . 😥🤔😥

Using Pagan to describe previous religions is a degrogatory practice of Christian writers. We should refer to Christianity as Jesus myth or Jesus mystery death cult.
