Praying for peace. No one deserves this suffering and to be freezing this winter. This entire situation is horrible.

As the scope of damage to Ukraine's energy systems has come into focus in recent days, Ukrainian and Western officials have begun sounding the alarm but are also realizing they have limited recourse. Ukraine's Soviet-era power system cannot be fixed quickly or easily. In some of the worst-hit cities, there is little officials can do other than to urge residents to flee - raising the risk of economic collapse in Ukraine and a spillover refugee crisis in neighboring European countries.

Heavy positional fighting continues near Bakhmut. Attempts by the 🇺🇦AFU to counterattack on the outskirts of Opytnoye were unsuccessful. Having exhausted the reserves deployed to the city, the AFU has turned to defense in the Bakhmut area. 🇷🇺Wagner PMC fighters took control of a waste processing plant on the south-eastern outskirts of Bakhmut. The AFU is laying minefields in the town and suburbs of Bakhmut. Engineer-sapper units from the 🇺🇦53rd Mechanized Brigade have blown up most of the road bridges. Fierce artillery duels are taking place along the entire frontline. The 🇺🇦AFU command intends to withdraw the 🇺🇦10th Mountain Assault Brigade to the Lviv Region to restore combat capability.

Opytnoye Southern Sector:
The 🇷🇺3rd Brigade of the DPR People's Militia completed the clearing of Mayorsk and launched an offensive towards Kurdyumivka. As a result of the offensive on the Kurdyumovka - Kirovo line, Russian forces have occupied five platoon strongholds west of Zaitsevo. Due to heavy losses, the Ukrainian militants left the defensive lines to regroup

🇺🇦AFU mobilised men to Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk) and Kirovo to reinforce the 🇺🇦AFU's 5th Separate Assault Regiment. In addition, residents of Chasov Yar report the arrival of at least one Battalion of the 🇺🇦AFU's 66th Mechanized Brigade.

When the bridge to Crimea was bombed Putin retaliated by destroying Ukraine's power grid. It doesn't look like he's going away and he's sitting on some of the most powerful and sophisticated weapons ever conceived.
