I had no idea the difference just between eggshell and flat/matte!! I almost chose eggshell as a happy medium and I wouldn't have liked it. The flat/matte has such a modern feel to it. My place was built in the 1940s and has at least satin walls right now and it shows every imperfection! I didn't realize that the gloss was the issue though. Learning so much. THANK YOU THANK YOU for this video. Saved me some money and a tough lesson.

We have always used the enamel shiny paints. Now that I see the difference I think in an office or studio you would want the flat matte paint to eliminate the glare. Great tip.

Thanks for sharing Ray... I tell customers about using gloss paint over patched walls all the time... I hadn't used any flat paint in a long time but I tell them... Mostly I end up using a satin finish...

I love painting with the exception of trim. Flat is so much easier to paint with. Some things I prefer in a semigloss because of kids. Makes cleaning up a bit easier! 💗

This was so helpful! Did you have to prime the whole wall (or just the little spots) when painting flat over eggshell? I want to make sure the paint sticks ok.

Great video thanks brother. I like the way it looks. I myself not a fan of white paint but I understand what you're saying about it. I know of someone who complained when they got paint and it looked different. They had it mixed in the store looked great on white. They was painting a yellow wall so the color was off and I told them why. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother

Yeah I learned my lesson with egg shell too. One little touch up turns into a massive spot on the wall. You can never blend it. Luckily my cousin is an amazing painter and I pay him to do it.

Great video and super explanation, which is very helpful to me. Please can you paint matt, over an eggshell, is there any preparation for the new coat? How will the new matt coat fare over time being applied over the eggshell? Your old coat looks pretty fresh and bright, and might not need much preparation for a good key, what about if the sheen paint is many years old, any tips please, for a strong key surface for painting?
