American In Romania - What I Dislike The Most About Living In Romania (Viewer Discretion Advised)

I'm asked many times what I dislike about living in Romania and as I always said , I want to give my viewers my honest opinions about what it's like living in Romania. I'm very fortunate to not have had many problems that would make my list of dislikes very long.
But there is something that I've complained about for many years and I'm going to share it once again in this video. I will also include a very graphic video to help illustrate why I feel strongly about this.

Hey! well, i'm born in Romania in a small village near a small town with not so much traffic, but i remember when i first had to drive into Bucharest :D omg i was so tired at the end of the day it was surreal :D but now after so many years i got used to it, the only thing that still bothers me is the lack of parking. And just from my personal opinion i feel like things are improving, yeah there are allot of people who misbehave in traffic here, but the trend is going down, more and more people tend to respect others in traffic. Sadly the lack of a good infrastructure is the core of all bad drivers here.. people just get impatient and make mistakes, anyway this is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt :D Have a great day! Sa traiesti!

We usually stop at lights and at crossings, you lose your driving licence, but you always have to look both ways when you cross the road because there can be that person who believes he owns the road. Especially new drivers.

I understand what you mean 100% .I have notice that here in the USA ( California ) people seem to be running red lights way to often. I have notice this going back at least 6 years .When I get a green light I myself don't go right away, I wait a few seconds then go.I hope the young couple in the video turned out ok I feel bad for them.

You are right. I am a romanian and the majority of the drivers don't respect the rules. "If you drive faster than me you are crazy; if you drive slower than me you are a fool." That is the motto of the drivers here. As you can see the reference system of both fool/crazy is the subjective driver, not the law.

I hope they are ok and no lasting injuries. By the way they were hit I thought it would be much worst but thank God they were conscious, that is always a good sign

Happy birthday to your sister. This is a reminder, to always be cautious while crossing the street. That was scary.

Unfortunately that it's the current situation. Always take a look left and right before you cross the road.

One of the reasons why such accidents happen is that many national/European roads cross small villages instead of bypassing them. People drive for hours, they are tired and in a hurry. And yes, you are right: Romanian drivers are excessively aggressive; a fresh driver has no choice but to adapt to this "culture". Try to drive 50/h - which is the legal limit - in Bucharest, instead of 60+/h if you dare.

This is an interesting channel. I am an American living in Cluj as well. The driving is for sure different than what I was used to back in CA. I look both ways multiple times before crossing.

I hate my country so much and most of my hate is reserved for the reckless drivers here. (for the corrupt system as well but that's another issue) I was almost hit by a car on the zebra as a teenager and a few weeks ago as well. I am often panicked when I approach a street because you're not safe on the crosswalk. I lived in London and I used to cross illegally (like most Londoners do) and cars would stop in the middle of the street to let you pass. I felt so safe there.
