President Trump spoke publicly for the first time since Iran's missile attack on U.S. troops in Iraq. He said no one was hurt after Iran fired more than a dozen missiles at two bases where hundreds of U.S. troops in Iraq are stationed. Iran said the attack was retaliation for the U.S. killing of its most influential general, Qassem Soleimani. Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil anchor a CBS News Special Report from New York, with reports from Paula Reid at the White House, David Martin at the Pentagon and Elizabeth Palmer in Tehran.

I know a lot of you guys are complaining about him reading a script but I’m completely fine with. I mean think about this, when it comes to a possible war, do you really want him to wing it?

So, the president exercised restraint this time. Again. Good for him. I believe that weak missile attack was deliberately under-powered to either deescalate the situation or provoke an over-reaction on our part; painting us skillfully as the aggressor. That being said, assassinating the region's most beloved military hero (from their perspective) was a provocation of the highest order, and an unusual approach to be taken by someone who claims to desire peace.

I find it very weird...that despite Iran saying that it was an attack proportionate to the killing of General Soleimani...it doesn't seem to be proportionate.
Its good news that our troops were not hurt, I have friends that are deployed over there and I wouldn't want to hear they were killed.
But I still find its very weird, Iran seems to have purposely coordinated the attack so that no one would be killed.
De-escalation it seems. But lets see.

The U.S. executed this extremely well, and so far have lived up to their word of de-escalation. Not only where they able to take out a known terrorist, labeled by the U.S., the U.N., NATO, and the EU, but have done so without provoking further militaristic action (so far).

I get that memeing about WWIII is funny and it's good content, but people need to actually think about the situation based on the facts.

Do presidents ever memorize their speeches, or speak from within anymore? This robotic reading is annoying.
