The Middle East's cold war, explained 4.5
How two feuding countries are tearing apart the Middle East.

The Saudis and Iranians have never actually declared war on each other. Instead, they fight indirectly by supporting opposing sides in other countries and inciting conflicts. This is known as proxy warfare.

And it’s had a devastating effect on the region. Countries, especially poor ones, can’t function if there are larger countries pulling strings within their borders.

And that’s exactly what's happening in the Middle East. The Saudi-Iranian rivalry has become a fight over influence, and the whole region is a battlefield.

"Two countries always seem to be involved. Saudi Arabia and Iran."

Of course, as an American website, Vox would never say the US is always involved as well

Love how this CIA Operative doesn't even hint at the CIA having a hand in the 1979 revolution even though the documents have been declassified.

Pause at 0:05

Look at the 4 failing States
1. Iraq invaded by the U.S.

2. Libya toppled by the U.S.

3. Syria rebels funded by the US, with US air support and with US boots on the ground.

4. Yemen. Saudi Arabia's arms supplied by the US. Aerial refueling of Saudi planes done by the U.S.

5 seconds later... Iran is blamed.

I can't believe my ears!

Then only expert called in? CIA.

This is a joke, right?
