How to Build a Wood Spoke Wheel (With a Router Table)

Using some scrap 3/4" pine boards cut down to 8 inch squares and some 3/4" dowels I created a spoke wheel. This technique uses the router table and a 3/4" cove bit to set the spokes in perfect alignment.

Great idea! Your method of wheel construction can easily be incorporated into a number of other designs where a wheel is needed. It would also make a great hand wheel for use on homemade machinery, such as a printing press or cider press, etc. Thanks for sharing.

You do know that the hub of a wheel is meant to be a solid piece, right? A solid cylinder of wood, usually the hardest wood you have. What you've made there would never be able to bear any load, not even rough play from a child.
