Thanks Dude! I went through air assault training as a helicopter pilot so I could see what the infantry was being taught so I could better work with them. You provided an excellent demonstration and we can see why you are an instructor! Carry on!

Been reading the army small unit tactics handbook and they go into this method but it was something i would have to see to learn. Thanks for making the video, very clear instructions.

Was an instructor at Ft. Benning in '71 and '72 and taught rappelling with the "swiss seat". Same as this method. We also tied them in reverse to allow for Australian style repelling (face first). This was before Fast Rope. We we would slack jump from a helicopter (50-60 ft). Toss out 20 feet, release from an L sitting position on the skid, hit the 20 ft and slide the reminder with the brake hand. More fun then you can imagine.

Thanks for posting this. I’d forgotten everything after “get a rope.”
Air assault 1991!
ETS’ed less than 30 days later, lol. It was either air assault school or clean trucks coming back from Iraq.

The last time I used a "Swiss Seat" was Air Assault School. After that it was just a rigger's belt and a locking carabiner.

For everyone saying boner, it's not. I remember very well how tight the rope comes around the package that it juts the fabric forward. It's like sitting kakis x10

How much rope is needed to make a Swiss Seat. The Army told us how to figure it out but I have forgot. But I was in my teens and now 71 years old.
