All of my former comments on this video were deleted due to termination of my account because of false DMCA-takedowns on my account, so i'm going to pin a comment here that will cover most bases:

Yes, i say early on in the video thay you can *only* slash>block 3 times in a jump, which i prove later on to be false -- you CAN tbf w/ dash, but TBF in general has so few realistic use cases, that i avoid the subject until later in the video. If you're new, learning TBF is a giant waste of time, even IF you plan to become a gladiator.

The server this video was recorded on is igunz.net (minus the instakill section). It has plenty of really cool features, such as training bots (which i show off a LOT in this video). It has gotten a fair few changes recently, and is starting to gain some momentum in terms of playerbase. Id highly recommend checking it out.

Definitely see the amount of effort that went into this, great job!

Amazing guide man.

I started playing in 2006, learned gunz on default keybinds. Just now switched my keybinds because I've always felt limited by the finger gymnastics I had to do to chain certain moves together on default keybinds. RS has always been a pain in the ass for me. But re-learning keybinds after so long is PAINFUL knowing that all your muscle memory is tied to a different set of controls.

However, switching sword to scroll down and Q, E as weapon 1/2 has made flash step so much easier and faster. But trying to do all these moves with right-click as block now puts my brain in a tongue-twister and i go braindead mid-fight if I mess something up lol

when I was 16 I wanted to do a tutorial like this so bad. Now, 10 years later, I don't need to, and hopefully my friends now will give it a try. Thanks, this is very comprehensive and well done

I don't know if it motivates beginners but... it's like riding a bike, once you learn, you never forget!

I just discovered this game still exists after having not played since like 2008ish and I'm very hyped to get on tomorrow to see how much stuff is still in the ole fingers. Thank you for this it's very helpful.

Just a post-production comment I wanted to include here because i *did* get asked about it in the gunz.chat discord --

Yes, when I initially introduce slash>block in the "Block Cancel" section, I mentioned that you can either TBF static/drift (AKA TBF without a dash) OR do DBF with a dash. Which obviously isn't true, in fact I prove otherwise later on in the video. TBF as it is is hardly worth learning as it is, and TBF Dash even less so. Primarily because, even with the dash included, it's not a move that allows you to stay very mobile the same way DBF does. TBF is already a move that has a restrictive input timings -- in other words it's a move that more-or-less is performed the same way by every player, so something as simple as *blocking your attacks* becomes way easier if you know how to block TBF. Simply put: If you can block one person's TBF, you can block anyone's TBF. And as such, you can assume this applies even moreso to TBF Dash.

The maneuverability of DBF means that while you might not get as many slashes into one jump, you can find more opportunities to get around your opponent's block through the aforementioned mobility that DBF provides. Also, to break the illusion that TBF = DBF but faster, *yes* you can DBF at the same speed as you TBF. Of course, that means the timing to input your dash becomes stricter (you need to dash early in the jump, instead of at the apex or during the fall), making the duration of your jump shorter overall, which works it out to you doing a DBF at the same speed of a TBF *AND* also dashing more often.

TL;DR JUST FUCKING LISTEN TO ME AND DONT BOTHER WITH TBF, I ONLY INCLUDED IT HERE OUT OF OBLIGATION BECAUSE SOMEONE WOULD PROBABLY FLAME ME IF I DIDNT LOL. I neglected to mention TBF Dash, because I hardly wanted to acknowledge TBF as it is in this video

Everything's so well put, so much time and effort put into a dead game makes me really happy. Thank you for this. I just recently found out Gunz is still playable in "Freestyle gunz" private server so it's super sick, had a blast past day playing it, came here to check some of the moves i was rusty on! Great guide.

Thanks for this. Do you mind sharing your keyboard configuration? I should try using right click as the block button. But how do you manage switching between weapons by constantly clicking 2 and 3? Or do you use other buttons

Upon watching the entire video, it made me feel like 2002-2005. But we can't see those days again. I knew pro gunz players and only a gunz fan and still playing gunz every year are hard-working persons because gunz is not easy but will be easy if you really like the game.

For your next video you should definitely leave the inputs up longer(Maybe down at the bottom?). It would be handy to blindly scroll to the relevant part and see the inputs without needing to find the exact part where they are visible.

just a personal tip, use right click for reload, and change flip to another button, like F or something. it helps make reload slash shots specifically... much easier as awkwardly moving your fingers to R (for reload) then Q/E/3 (to change weapons, while also trying to control your directional movements (W, A, S, D Dash) can be pretty tricky. (you dont have to do this, it's just my preference)

also, when doing a slash shot/reload shot, you don't have to click the shoot button as you change from sword to gun, you can instead continue to hold the fire button while switching from the sword to your gun. so with the sword, hold the attack button down, switch to gun while still holding the attack button, as soon as it fires reload. i know some beginners don't realise they can just hold the click button.

If gunz was ever to be released on steam (lmao) then this should be the dedicated video that plays in the tutorial that they need to implement to keep.new players coming in!

I'm sure thats what they intended training mode to be...possibly? I know kstyle was never intended...but maybe it secretly was (like an easter egg snuck in by developers)

I just played gunz for the first time and decided to give up because I thought it would be impossible to learn starting this late into the game until I found this tutorial. So thankful u made this

I come back to this guide all the time 'cause it's that entertaining. Nothing more to learn from it, I just appreciate the effort. Do you still have plans for an advanced guide?
