About 12 years since launching the 370Z, Nissan is finally announcing a replacement model is on its way.

Details about the 370Z successor have not been provided by Nissan, but if rumors persist it’s going to be called the 400Z. Allegedly, it’ll borrow the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400, good for at least 400 horsepower or even closer to 500 hp.

The shape reminds me of the old 240Z. Cool.

Why would is be a 3.0L infiniti engine if the models match the displacement of their engine. It needs to be some kind of 4.0 L engine

Using reasoning from prior historic Z lineage, considering current 370Z market position, and how Nissan will best compete with immediate competitors I would submit the following: Nissan will not abandon it's current price point of ~31k for the 370Z so expect something just past 31k as a starting price ( say ~33k) . Nissan has always used the engine size as part of the name so in this case it may be called 300Z ( not 400Z as 400 Z has no poignant relationship to engine size) . For the base model - Nissan may even offer a 2.5 liter turbo 4 cylinder straight from the Altima with its new VC technology but "juiced"" to offer better power than what the Altima currently offers . Why a 4 cylinder ? Because Toyota is about to release its own 2 nd version of the Toyota Supra with a 2.0T 4 cylinder straight from BMW at approximately 255hp( as well as continue to offer the 3.0T 6 cylinder). Nissan could go with "250Z" for this price leader. Not only would a 250Z allow a lower price point, it would also offer lighter weight, better balance, better MPG, etc... "300Z " would then reflect a 3.0T from the Infiniti G60 but with a single turbo likely with better hp than the existing 332hp from the NA 3.7 V6 in the 370Z....The twin turbo 3.0TT will be reserved for the Nismo top offering and be called 300Z Nismo and yes, could reflect ~380 to 400 hp. The Supra comparison should not be underestimated as the Supra will be its closest rival in the USA and in international markets.

Not a fan of the chrome strip running down the C pillar. The rear profile also looks very similar to the 1988 Pontiac Fiero.

Why would you buy a new Z when you can just slap a supercharger or two turbos on the current VQ?
