Having seen Albini live in the last sixth months, I can attest he does play with both sliders pushed all the way up. He also mostly uses it for feedback and really dramatic parts (the most obvious being the last measures of "Mama Gina")

The high note riffs in this video are great entertainment. They have a ...uh..Teletubbies or Boobah feel about them.

Gives the guitar a really neat throat. One that could use a gargle from time to time?

Hi Joe, how do you think an asymmetric clipping section would work with this?

Joe is the real deal-a Mad scientist of twenty first century Electric/acoustic Music. Oh did i mention the communication arts-like Mime, writing, recording, performing. since the days of "Guitar Player" we have benefited from his one-of-a kind thinking !

Diversity is a wonderful thing; see the two sides line up to love or hate, yeah or not, for effects like this.Have to remind myself sometimes that there's people who don't like fuzz, like there's people that voted for/support "that guy".
Thanks, Joe, for existing, for posting. I don't believe you will ever be pidgeon holed into any streotype.

I have one of the original chuck collins reissues of this, bought in early 2010 (it was about $120 back then but they've shot up to $295 recently!). These khaki boxes are seriously wicked!
When you crank both sliders up, the tone reminds me a bit of Neil Young's heavier guitar sounds, basically an old Fender tweed amp maxed out. Not for everyone I suppose, but I dig it.
I usually set mine with the harmonics at half or 2/3rds, balance on full, and a bit of natural tube amp overdrive mixed in. It's like the holy grail of fuzz distortion! Great vid, mate!

The thing I find most interesting about the Harmonic Percolator is the (futile) lengths the creator went to in his attempts to prevent reverse engineering. I mean, most people (coughKloncough) with that goal just spread a bit of opaque epoxy over the traces/components/both, and call it a day. Interfax guy, on the other hand, did that; but not until he'd painted over/scratched off capacitor markings. He even went so far as to cut tiny sleeves from metal tubing, which he then slid over resistors to obscure the codes. Imagine the time he spent doing those things.

does it go on a shelf, get sold, or go back into the parts drawer?

A tonne of great sounds and some very cool playing, with the greatest respect is the black beauty you're playing a Chibson?
