I was a libertarian myself but no more thank goodness. I voted for Ron Paul once but thanks to journalists like Greg Palast and Chris Hedges I discovered the truth about Ron Paul and other corrupt American politicians how they betray the working class by supporting free-market capitalism which the Koch's and the Adelsons strongly promote. So shame on Ron Paul, Barack Obama, and the Bush's.

"It takes a genius not to see it", that sentence had me laughing.Although sometimes Ihave to do my best to stay focused to hear what Chomsky is saying because of his monotone way of speaking, I most definitely recognise his passion. He is not an extravert but his passion is real and true. This is an honest man, a rebel with a cause dedicated for many years to shine a light on the injustices of men in power.

Lucky someone has a good memory as we as a society seem to have an extremely short memory- you know we tend to keep voting for the same bunch of criminals...

U.S. Major General Smedley Butler: " I spent 33 years and 4 months in active military
service . . . And during that period I spent most of my time as a high-class
muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a
racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. Thus, I helped make Mexico and especially
Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a
decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped
in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of
Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of
Brown Brothers in 1902–1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for
American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for American
fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927, I helped see to it that Standard Oil
went on its way unmolested. Our boys were sent off to die with beautiful ideals
painted in front of them. No one told them that dollars and cents were the real

chomaky scares me. I dont want to believe a word he says because it makes me sad to realise how dark the world really is... how little we know about the powers that rule it.... and the terrible truth that you can't believe anyone or anything. :/

I feel like I have been sleeping my whole entire life. So the independence that so many countries celebrate isn’t even real.

Was there a silver lining somewhere in that speech?

Settling in for an hour and a bit of needle sharp analysis but you start all wrong. Noam! Adam Smith's interest was in Great Britain, (he was a Scot like me) not England.

I mention this in the interest of accuracy, not national pride.

@Brad Steeg steel beg to differ. I've heard him on several occassions give solution.

it's interesting to recognize that we are living through a time where the current dominant empire of the world has more control than any preceding empires in history. 1000 years from now (if humans can last this long), this period of time will be looked back on in a similar fashion as we today look back on the romans during the height of their power. i dont think it's recognized how significant and unique a position the US has in world history, and as somewhat of a history buff, i find it fascinating to speculate on what future generations will think about the US when they study it's rise, and inevitable fall.

Oh man I watched right through waiting for the " way forward" part- But no, no ray of hope to be found. Also why does this only have 300K views? This is required knowledge

America's drive for profit at all cost, we see the transfer of production to China to increase short term profit. However the contradictions then set in, we see a rise in profits for the few but the loss of Americas industrial base. The rich get richer but at a cost of the economic strength of the country. So we see the spectacle of an outcry regarding the rise of Chinas industrial and military capacity as a direct consequence of Americas economic policy/free trade !

here is a little trick for applying economic pressure in "allies" to reduce economic aid and increase military aid which usually leads to military coup and regime change.
