This is a presentation video of a little demo that I've done to show the Hydrax-SkyX potential, my two Ogre3D powered plug-ins.
It's thinked for being a reference start point for users that want to use Hydrax and SkyX in the same app.
The demo includes some little additional effects such as sun highlights bloom and depth texture shadows.
If you're interested, you can find more information and demo app + source code at:

skyX looks really nice and im trying to integrate it to my projects. I'm still an OGRE newbie thought and i find the lack of tutorials very annoying :S
i've search the ogre forums and nothing to give of the different class names, how to setup the sky or whatnot :( if you read this and you have a tutorial somewhere, i would love a link please.
the work you've done here is AMAZING and i'd really love to use it in my project :S

yea and we all know the menu is going to affect your fps by loads ingame :P physics have actually less impact then you might think because it puts objects as disabled if they're not moved

Hi, Xavyiy

It looks wonderful. Is the water horizon infinite?

pretty much, Crysis has a lot more stuff yes, however the other thing to remember is that they did really non-optimized shaders, as illustrated by that warhead was faster rendering while it looked better because with warhead, they actually optimized it.

i'm doing everything in opengl. I'll post videos as soon as we have something nice to show. I'm not really an artist so i dont have much to show atm. Currently i'm working on a full opengl 3.2 implementation and a friend of mine is looking into optimizing our paging terrain

Is there a way to port both Hydrax and the newest version of SkyX to Game Maker so that you can use it with GMOgre? I've been looking for a way to do that and couldn't find anything.

thats true, but thats why more and more extensions come out that remove strain from the cpu. A newer example of that is nvidia's bindless graphics and bindless texturing.. and offcourse physx that runs on the GPU if you have the right hardware. You can keep it all to quite a minimum, which is exactly my goal in my engine i'm writing from scratch. I've used ogre3d, horde3d and some others.. but none of them came to the speed that i'm getting now.. all way too generic stuff

the reason Crysis takes so much power is because it's nothing more than a glorified tech demo, and furthermore, it's hardly optimized. I think that this is so fast because the person doing this learned from the MISTAKES of Crytek, and actually optimized it.

I am a programmer. Maybe not like you, but I am one. And the actual reason is that OGRE is far more optimized than CryEngine.
