See how easy it is to set up the lightweight and extremely livable Elixir series backpacking tents. Elixir 2 and Elixir 3 tents use a unique, freestanding pole system that includes 2 main poles already connected by hubs plus a short spreader pole, which make them simple to assemble. The pole system, clips and buckles are color-coded to make setup fast and easy. And the included footprint lets you set up the tents in both Standard and Fast & Light mode.

Elixr 2 is a great tent, lightweight, solid, waterproof, no condensation and looks good too, first test was Cape Wrath with 2 of us plus a black lab, it stood up no problems 👍

Just got this tent. We haven't gone camping in it yet, but we did set it up in the living room to make sure everything was as expected. I was really happy with the size of the interior and vestibules. Full coverage fly is big plus. I think it's going to do the job well.

I bought the three man tent and have two problems with it. A couple of days ago was The first time I camped with it, and to me, calling it a three man tent seems to be a stretch. I was camping alone, and by myself I took up half the tent. I'm not a big guy, 5ft. 9in. tall and weigh 220 lbs. I can not imagine three men in the three man tent. Second problem, the door is too small. There is no carrying anything into the tent as I had to get down on my hands and knees to get into the tent. Or maybe that is the way all backpacking tents are, as I've only used car camping tents before.

This video saved my life and is thé instruction to throw away the unmarked ground-thing because the light set up is no option at all.

This is a great tent, but original stuff sack is very big and without any compression straps.
I'm not going to spend $30 on separate tent compression bag by msr, so I'm just using compression bag from my old tent.

I've got an Elixir 3 tent for my 5 days trip to Crimea with my wife and 3 kids.  The tent was big enough for our family of 5 (we set up the rainfly with the footprint only) and there was a lot of space for all our gear.  And it is pretty light.  Thanks MSR Team for this great tent!

Fatal flaw in this video from MSR!!! When the poles are set up, Grey should run under red at one end and over red on other end. Or vice versa. Setting poles as in this video where one pole travels under the other at both ends makes the other pole shorter. You will not be able to line outer fly seams with poles putting undue stress on outer fly resulting in shorter life span/damage and eneven pitch!! Shame on you #msrgear 😇

Hi MSR, my elixir2 footprint does not have the plastic clips for the fly to connect to. This means that I can't set it up in the fast and light mode. Was the design changed? This fast and light feature was part of the reason I bought this tent.

I don't get if the fly sheet grommet goes to the bottom or top of the pile of 3?

I have got the Elixir 3 tent, it has got to get me through an 8-9 month trip around Africa, I just hope it is up to the job
It would be good to see these tents put up in windy weather, rather a nice sunny day
I have found as long as the inner don't touch the rain fly they don't leak, but the slightest touch (as on a wet and windy day), you have a wet mattress or sleeping bag, something to keep in mind
I got a tarp cut to size rather than the footprint (it don't cover the whole area of the rain fly)

Can I set it up on hard ground without stakes? Like camping on concrete or wood.

My Elixir 3 footprint doesn't have a logo. Which side should I treat as top?

Hi, does anyone find that the side doors are a bit saggy, so insides aren't vertical? I am thinking of stitching the red straps maybe 1 - 1.5 cm where they connect to the cross pole at the top, to give more tension to the side walls. Any thoughts or similar experiences

Hi, i have just recently purchased the MSR Exilir 1 and i have noticed that the tent does not have the clips to attach the fly sheet. This was one of the reasons i purchased this tent to erect quickly. I have found that i now have to mess about trying to get the fly sheet in the gromets as well as when i take the tent down which defeats the object of quickly erecting the tent. Was the tent updated and i have a old model? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
