As soon as you approach this residence the quality is evident, but its not until you make your way through the gates and down the circular driveway that you start to capture the true extent of the subtle elegance. Driveway lighting guides you to the protection of the porte cohere where you ease out of your vehicle. After your feet land on the stamped concrete pad, a short flight of 3 steps take you up to the 3000 sq. ft. of covered wrap around concrete deck. Swing open the stunning fir main door and prepare to be awed as you enter this fabulous 3200 sq. ft., 2 bedroom rancher.

Carefully crafted for the current owners by local award winning builder David Coulson, the home was inspired by the famous architect Charles Dickey, an American architect famous for developing a distinctive style of Hawaiian architecture. He was known for designing some of the most famous buildings in Hawaii. He favored larger open spaces and fewer walls, to allow the tradewinds to circulate, and roofs with projecting eaves in order to keep rain out without having to close the windows.

The shape of the roof and the projecting eaves of this home are in keeping with a Dickey trademark that became known locally as the Dickey roof, a hip roof with a double-pitch, that is, a shallower pitch at the eaves. This home shares the same roof lines as can be seen on a house he constructed in 1926. So many other architects have adapted this roof style over the years that it has now become a stereotypical feature of a Hawaiian sense of place.

The sense of place in this residence is intensified due to its permanent link to the earth on which it sits. The warm fir floors you feel underfoot, the posts and beams that add strength and sturdiness to the structure, and even the wood siding protecting it from the elements were all hewn from 99 year old trees harvested from the property.

Great Looking property!!! I wish I would have see it earlier! We just bought a place about 10 mins from the track! and haven't heard any noise at all, although my husband would probably love to hear cars racing around. He is a nascar/formula 1guy.

If this is only 10mins from the track, does it get the noise from it, I hear there are big issues with the noise level from the race track ??
