A jury in its 11th day of deliberation emerged on Tuesday at the Montreal courthouse with verdicts in the case involving the death of an inmate at the Montreal Detention Centre two years ago.

The jury found Tarik Biji guilty of second-degree murder in the death of fellow inmate Michel Barrette, a he‎roin addict who had just smuggled tobacco into the detention centre days before he was beaten to death on June 21, 2016.

Two other inmates who took part in the beating — Garmy Guerrier and Jason Côté — were convicted of manslaughter. All three men were also convicted of aggravated assault.

Hahaha look at the state of this lot. All doing their ‘tough guy’ walk and gang up on one man. Softest and most pathetic looking people I’ve ever seen. Just think guys, people are out there with great careers, making money, going on holidays, enjoying their families, listening to great live music, bringing up their kids, making love to their partners or simply doing something that makes them happy. Whereas you guys are high fiving each other, happy with yourselves after ganging up and beating on someone in prison. Oh dear, a real achievement. The real tough guys are the people working all day to put food on the table for their families. You guys are what we call ‘life’s losers’. Congrats.

Let me guess: The guys who beat him to death were then sentenced to prison.
