I invested In ULIP, It was invested in debt at first & then I switched to equity (4 switches are free per year for my plan). Though I had to apply my intuition and knowledge I am at a substantial profit at this point. I plan to switch it back to debt when the market turns bearish. Though there are lots of negative things said about this, this plan is working for me notwithstanding the mortality charges etc. However the biggest benefits to me is that 1. I will have to stay invested for 5 years atleast which is in a way good. 2. I can switch between fixed income and equities whenever I feel like subject to the max of 4 which is again sufficient. 3. The most important is that there is ZERO tax on the gains as my investment amount is less than 2.5 lakhs.

Thank you for valuable explanation. But i have the following doubts
1. If I want to invest for the future of my children in long term then The locking period may help in Ulip where as in mutual funds there is a chance to withdraw when the market highly works. There would be a temptation.
So for my actual goal is there any alternate solution?

ULIP insurance basically for your INVESTMENT ...but LIFE LINE taken as a reference ..

Do not mislead the concept of Ulip Insurance ..

Actually endowment plan's return is also not fixed. It depends upon the bonus rate declared by the company at the end of financial year.
