THIS IS NOT COLLE BOWING!!!!! ITS MY WAY OF GETTING & TEACHING THE FINGERS TO BE MORE FLEXIBLE!

It really doesn't matter what way your fingers are bending (straight when drawing the bow up or bent when drawing the bow up etc)
This is not teaching you a 'bowing technique' like Martelé or Spiccato etc, so it doesn't matter.

It's merely a technique to get the fingers to bend so you can go on to learn said various bow techniques that require this flexibility.
I demonstrate in the video that you can do it both ways, the the end result and purpose is the same.

I'm a guitarist who owns a violin (notice how I didn't say I play one), and I found this channel searching for pickup information, but this video gives the solution to the "how do classical violinists sound like they have infinite sustain?" question I've had for years.

I've been at the viola for 4+ years now and this video has to be about the best and thorough lesson I've seen. The professional string performers seem to defy  my ability to detect hearing bow changes, now I know how they do it!  You're a great teacher. Thanks.

It's probably just me but I bow tends to slip out my hands and my pinkie locks in place when extended. I don't know if anyone have the same problems.

Thank you--this explains something I'd heard almost 50 years ago: while watching a violinist in an orchestra; he did an up and down stroke with the bow--and the note sounded continuous with no 'break' in between the bow changing direction. I'd always wondered how he did this...and you just revealed it.
