Published in 1950 by blues-man, bandleader and pianist Ivory Joe Hunter, I Almost Lost My Mind was first recorded October 1, 1949 and became a number one hit on the US Billboard R&B of that year. Seeing several recordings throughout the ‘50’s, it again became a hit for a third time in 1956 when it was covered by Pat Boone being the song’s best-selling version.
