Russia: Ksenia Sobchak casts her vote in presidential elections

Russian presidential candidate for the Civic Initiative party Ksenia Sobchak cast her ballot in the presidential election at a polling station in Moscow, on Sunday.

The first polls open in Russia's Far East at 20:00 GMT on Saturday, March 17, and the last polls in the Kaliningrad exclave close at 18:00 GMT on Sunday, March 18.

The first round of the 2018 Russian presidential election will be contested by a total of eight candidates on March 18. Should no candidate reach a majority, a second round will take place three weeks later scheduled for April 8.

Almost 111 million voters are registered to cast their votes to one of eight candidates, including the incumbent President.

According to the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova, over 1000 international observers will work in Russia to oversee the election process.
