Ep 410 - Crime Patrol Satark - This episode raises serious question as to how people take the advantage of provisions (laws) the constitution of India provides for the protection of underprivileged populous. The question has been raised through one Jagdish Halsar a lower caste daily wager who falsely alleged a brother duo of rape, assault and abduction of his minor daughter Jyoti. It so happened that Jagdish got suspicious of Jyoti being friendly with Girish Chauhan (20) a rickshaw puller in the same village. Moreover the investigating police were unable to hunt down two accomplices of Girish Chauhan in the alleged rape incident. The police also picked Girish’s and Mukesh’s parents Somnath and Vasudha and told them that their sons were in trouble firstly for rape and then causing grievous injury. The media intervention forced the higher echelon in the police department to swing in to action and what happened next turned out to be an anti-climax. Where is Jyoti? What is the truth? Watch to find out.

Crime Patrol coming back in its 4th season attempts to bring stories of crime happening all around the country. Crimes that tell us, we need to be careful, we need to be watchful. Crimes that tell us lives could have been saved.Every crime we hear of, either warns us to be careful or scares us, it could happen to us. Every crime ignites a feeling, “It should not have happened”.Would knowing the “Why” behind a crime, help in stopping a crime from happening?“I don’t like the way he looks at me”, “I don’t like the way he/she is behaving”, “I think he/she is out of his/her mind”, “I think he/she has gone crazy”. That gaze, that quirky smile, that persistent stare which unnerves. It is difficult to understand the intentions but the hints are there. In a house a husband and wife argue, fight. A vessel comes flying, a glass breaks. Husband is angry and the wife is upset. That hatred, that ego. The distance that keeps growing. It is difficult to comprehend the damage, but the cracks are there.Feelings… expressions. Misunderstood, unresolved callings of the heart. The cracks are there. Too wide to be missed. Yet when the heart takes over the mind, the outcome is a mindless tragedy.Crime Patrol- Dastak will attempt to look at the signs, the signals that are always there before these mindless crimes are committed. Instincts/Feelings/Signals that so often tell us that not everything is normal. May be, that signal/feeling/instinct is just not enough to believe it could result in a crime. Unfortunately after the crime is committed, those same signals come haunting.

This is a classic example of misuse of various laws which originally were intended to protect some of the less privileged in the society. Two of the most misused legal sections/laws, in the Indian context, are (1) Section 498a (Anti-dowry laws) and (2) The prevention of Atrocities Act (Act to prevent atrocities against SC/ST/Minorities). Those who are interested in a detailed research on misuse of these laws and how to fight against this, shall read the following:

The following links throws light on misuse of section 498a (Anti-dowry laws in India)

Such shoddy investigation by the Police initially. Instead of investigating the matter and finding evidence, just kept on believing Jagdish. Should have taken less than 1-2 days to solve. The medical report was a BIG pointer as well.
Most Police people in India are this way though - they believe in beating and torturing people instead of cracking the case scientifically.
And why the hell didn't they file a counter case against Jagdish? Bloody idiotic police.

They should have laws to punish those who abuses the law. Hate crime law is there to protect you not abuse it. You should be fined for abusing it.

The girl's step-father is a mean, scheming, conceited and dangerous person. He is not above blackmailing another family by making false allegations for extorting money. Compliments to Crime Patrol's Casting Director for picking a very mean-looking but superb actor for playing the role of the girl's father. He had acted in another episode in which he murdered his old mother and a handicapped brother.
