Chia farming on multiple systems - introduction to harvesters

From Chia version 1.1.6 the log level in config.yaml needs to be set to DEBUG level in both farmer and harvester to see the "the handshake to peer", "harvester_handshake from peer" and "new_signage_point_harvester" in the log file. Spent a couple days troubleshooting when there was no issue.

Hi! I just got my harvester setup yesterday. I like to think I'm pretty savvy, but not experienced with Linux. I was successful, but it took a while for me to get there. Although I can see my plots passing the filter in the Farmer GUI, I still wasn't feeling very confident I had set everything up correctly.

Watching this video validated I was doing everything correctly and significantly simplified my understanding. Also, I learned a few terminal tricks after watching you and with a few pause/rewinds. Thank you very much!! Great video!

Started Chia with a single system plotting and farming off it. After watching/reading more into we now have a two system setup, 1 to plot and another as the harvester. In doing so, we were able to get the harvester machine connected to the plotting machine where they both see each other, but we haven't been able to figure out how to start plotting. Also, is there a separate software needed to move the plots to the harvester machine?

Thanks for the videos and the site! I've done what was specced in the video and the wiki and the logs show the Harvester and Farmer are talking to each other just like in this video. However the challenge line in my logs show 0 total plots rather than the 45 that are in my drive. Running a plots check has the same results as yours does with the same private keys warning but the Farmer refuses to recognize the plots. Any ideas on what I can try next to sort this out?

How many plots is 'too many' for one harvester? At what point does it become necessary/beneficial to have multiple harvesters, and how do you tell if your harvester is at capacity?

Be nice if this whole process was simplified and you can just harvest through the Chia software. Relying on powershell is somewhat of a hassle for people not familiar with it. I'm fine with using it but it could turn potential farmers away.

Thank you for clarifying that the farmer, currently, does not aggregate plot count from harvesters on the network in gui or command line. Last attempted spoof does show groups of plots, one for each harvester. So there's that. Thanks again!

I just passed 1PiB, and am working on the second PiB now. Wondering if I should have all this and more going through a single farmer node. Can/Should I have multiple farmers? I already have multiple harvesters pointing to my main GUI on my desktop (farmer), but thinking this is not ideal and might be better with multiple farmers.

So If i have a farmer and a harvester, which one do I plot on? I assume the harvester... I'm trying to build 2 systems. one for plotting and one for farming but i have yet to find clear directions of how to do this. It seems the mix-up for me is the terminology. I just don't know which is which...
