Video might be a little borring. These are some views from the road in New Zealand. Might give some impression if you are going to take bus ride in this country.

Trip from Auckland to Wellington is a very long journey across almost all North Island. All people use air travel because of extreme distances. As you can see there are very very few houses a long the way.

It was middle of winter, so there was some frost in forest and mountains got snow caps. You can also see road around lake Taupo and desert road.

Not boring at all, I enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Really makes me want to go back there :)

Also, the reason the journey is slightly longer than it is by car is the speed limit. The bus is limited to 90 KPH, whereas cars can go up to 100 kph.

Loved it when they stoped to take photo's of Mt Ruapehu, I too stop there to take photo's on my drive from Catheral Cove to Wellington, last year, unfortunately no snow on the peak!

Road distance is 685km, takes about 10 hours by bus with 3 stops for Morning tea, luncgh, afternoon tea and tickets can cost from $1 in specials, up to about $100 full fare. Its cheap and the people on the bus are mostly tourists and families of poorer people who can't afford cars. Be careful as most buses don't have toilets and eating and drinking is generally not allowed.

Is it due to the speed limits? I'm visiting NZ very soon, and heard they have very strict rules and heavy tickets regarding speed. I'm from Namibia, land where you see people driving 260km/h on intercity highways
(german heritage hahahaha)

Another scenic option is the overlander train. If you catch this bus at the right time of day you'll get on a double decker.

:))) well it's ok for tourists. I started to talk with some ppl and soon all passengers joined into conversation. True that nobody remained in bus till the end.

@malcolmjacobson its true, but trains are only on weekends and Fridays. Train is also safer and more comfortable.

I want to record my trip from Auckland to Huntly. But im a shy person, so if I'm holding my camera the whole trip it'll make me feel really awkward. Any suggestions?

Edit: I want to film the whole trip then timelapse it.

I'd advise anyone doing that to take the train. Would be much more pleasant, if slightly slower.
