When we heard that due to the current COVID-19 situation no feasts will be allowed, we felt sad. This is because we all loved the joyous and festive time that our beloved feast brings along. Sadly, this year we will not be able to experience it in person so it has been decided to publish some archived footage of the feast to help keep our spirits up during these difficult times.
These videos are highlights from our archives of past feasts, in which we will be publishing for Nadur Feast Fans to enjoy. This video forms part of the #ImnarjaArchives project.
■ Imnarja Feast
This feast is one of the oldest feasts celebrated in Malta and Gozo. The Feast commemorates two important Saints in Maltese religious lore, St. Peter and St. Paul. The word luminarja is derived from the Latin word "Luminare" - to light up. This was the way people manifested their joy in recognition of a particular feast, such lighting being offered by burning bonfires and candles. The Feast in Nadur includes an agricultural and crafts show, firework displays, and concerts by the local Mnarja brass band.
