The Secrets Of Quantum Physics (Full Astrophysics Documentary) | Spark 4.5
Professor Jim Al-Khalili traces the story of arguably the most important, accurate and yet perplexing scientific theory ever: quantum physics.

The story of quantum physics starts at the beginning of the 20th century with scientists trying to better understand how light bulbs work. This simple question soon led scientists deep into the hidden workings of matter, into the sub-atomic building blocks of the world around us. Here they discovered phenomena unlike any encountered before - a realm where things can be in many places at once, where chance and probability call the shots and where reality appears to only truly exist when we observe it.

Albert Einstein hated the idea that nature, at its most fundamental level, is governed by chance. Jim reveals how in the 1930's, Einstein thought he'd found a fatal flaw in quantum physics. This was not taken seriously until it was tested in the 1960s. Professor Al-Khalili repeats this critical experiment, posing the question does reality really exist, or do we conjure it into existence by the act of observation?

Elsewhere, we explore how the most famous law of quantum physics – The Uncertainty Principle – is obeyed by plants and trees as they capture sunlight during the vital process of photosynthesis. Could quantum mechanics explain the greatest mystery in biology - evolution?

Quantum entanglement is like a pair of socks. Their fate is connected even when one is lost

What's with the Devil images at the beginning of the presentation? What purpose do those images serve? Is the Devil in the details of this video?

I may not be a rocket-surgeon, but I STILL think shows like this are worth watching - after all, if I have NO idea about how reality works, then how can I make sure my quantum mechanic isn't over-charging me?

Dad enters the room.. - I opened porn because it is much simpler to explain

I found this extremely interesting, given I cannot even begin to grasp the basic mathematics in it. I really liked the way the explanations were presented. Dumbing down for the average person, without making me feel like a drooling idiot sitting in the corner. Thank you.

great aim... keep up the good work! So we can definitely now conclude that the red balls weren't as heavy as the blue balls. groundbreaking!

Random thoughts: The universe is getting bigger as time elapses. So, could it be theory that universes are being created every second of our lives? Planet Earth is actually our god. What if darkness is a vacuum? Could a vacuum theory be created and relate to color, temperature, and pressure? Think about the air and its pressure, the ocean and its, and the surface. With the surface's pressure relating to our force of gravity.
When it was said that you can see light as a wave, I went ahead and thought of it as turning on the lights and seeing the waves traveling out of the light source. I went ahead and said, hmm, but, the waves then rush back to the source once you flick em off? This action relates to more of like a vacuum system. Flick our light source on and the light particles spread out due to a decrease in suction caused by electricity(if that's even possible). Flick them off and they head back completely to where they came from.
But, what about the shadows behind us?
Isn't there much more of a vacuum of energy flowing around in the atmosphere? So when you look at your shadows outside, you'll see it much more clear than you would if you look at your own shadow inside a house. 🤔 Just spitting out an idea if anyone wants to jump on it. Or also disprove it and tell me yours. We learn and grow when we challenge ourselves.

The explanation of entanglement experiment meant nothing to me.
It did not explain the probability equation.

Einstien was wrong only becasue he was obsessed with the idea that nothing could travel faster than light. This is true, but entangled particles are not traveling at all. If you consider higher dimensions; then it stand to reason these particles are actually still occupying the same space. It is only OUR perspective that makes them appear to be in different locations.
I can describe up, down, left, right, forward, and what about directions we CAN'T observe? Because we are stuck in 3D?
That doesn't mean these higher dimensions don't exsist, it just means that, the way they move will appear "magical", or "non-sensical" to us.
These particles, aren't breaking any rules. They just move through a space, we don't intriniscally understand.
Space has a very different shape, than what we can actively observe.
This doesn't change our relationship to it.

I like the theorhetical idea of faster than light particles (like the tachyon...which I'm sure only exsists in startrek) but what if there are mirrored functions that behave in the opposite manner?...if it slows down to C, then it gains mass?...

Perhaps this levo-dextro relationship exsists in more ways than we've expected...

We're only JUST begging to understand entanglment...
