Syria's war: Who is fighting and why 4.5
Watch how the Syrian civil war became the mess it is today.

After four-plus years of fighting, Syria's war has killed at least hundreds of thousands of people and displaced millions. And, though it started as a civil war, it's become much more than that. It's a proxy war that has divided much of the Middle East, and has drawn in both Russia and the United States. To understand how Syria got to this place, it helps to start at the beginning and watch it unfold:

So basically America created Al- Qaeda in Afghanistan (to fight the Soviets), and then they fought with them. Then they provided training, weapons and support to Al-Qaeda in Syria while they are still fighting them in Afghanistan. ISIS then broke away from them in Syria after getting trained by the CIA. hmmm SO that basically means all terrorist organisations are MADE IN AMERICA 🇺🇸?

2020 Update:

The United States initiates support for FSA forces. Several states also follow, with Qatar and Turkey both backing the FSA as well. However, both Doha and Ankara back Al Nusra as well. Turkey on the other hand is also bombing Kurdish forces.

The Gulf Arab States, all cut support for the rebels and turn to support Assad against US, Turkish and Qatari interests. They provide lots of Intel on strategic locations for Assad forces to strike. Meanwhile, assisting in bombing anti-assad opposition.

Iran continues to support Assad but, people question how long this support will last, since the Gulf Arabian states initiated support.

ISIS Gets defeated

Al Qaeda gets mostly defeated

US drops support for Kurds
