The official visualiser for 'It's Time' by Sub Focus ft. Gene Farris.

First premiered at his recent sold-out debut live show - Circular Sound at Printworks London - ‘It’s Time’ displays all the power and production prowess Sub Focus has become known for, melding disparate genres together as Gene Farris' vocal refrain repeats: “People…it’s time.” Of the track, Sub Focus says:

"After seeing Chemical Brothers play live at Glastonbury 2019 I felt energised to redesign my live show culminating in the first Circular Sound show at Printworks last year, this track was designed initially as one off special for it, trying to capture some of the Chems very special brain melting energy with spoken word house music and drum & bass. Many of my tracks start as ‘what would happen if you combine these two genres’ kind of experiments and this is a good example."

This resonates with me. Not really a stadium/pop Drum & Bass guy but theres nothing wrong with enjoying that. This however takes me back. Reminds me of Chemical Brothers. Really groovy, subtle and energetic without being loud and overly dropcentric. Sub Focus has always been one of the top producers no matter if you are into that kind of DnB or not. BIG UP!

Very, very nice. Beatport is drowning in samey tech house, and it's nice to hear something that feels updated and fresh and more sublime. Hope to hear more of this style.

Whiuuuut? Gene Farris collab???? Chicago house LEGEND. Lost count as to how many times I saw him back in the day, and again in the 2010 era when I lived in the city. It was ON when he and Paul Johnson (RIP PJ, miss you homie) showed up. Always been a house head, went to the dark side in 1998). Stellar collab, gentleman!!

We're in times now where people are afraid to say or do anything against the grain, this is a good start. Clearly the rebellious side kicking in. Farris is a very interesting character as well. I learned about him through my mate GAWP. But I can see you're the one who pushed this idea. Man, get on it and take us out of this nonsense music doldrum right now.

I've dipped out of music for a while now. I thought maybe I'd come back and hear some crazy shit new stuff. Like when I heard Ghosts n stuff in my uni dorm early days and thought, wtf is this, and it started a whole new wave of something. We need some music power, new direction. The dub scene early days unbelievable. I'm not hearing anything coming through these days man??
