Love how Sara handled this discussion! Held her own against Sunny, Joy and Alyssa and made valid points.

I respect, admire and love my TV sister, Sara, for being outstanding, balanced and consistent with her opinions about a lot of things especially about our American politics and policies. No doubt I am a Democrat but that doesn't mean I only see roses in my party. Whenever bad political choices are being made or were made, we must call them out to ensure that our Democratic party continues to work for the American people regardless of party affiliations. And that what my TV sister, Sara, consistently does not only as an American, a mother, a wife and a sister but also a responsible and conscientious individual. No, Sara did not pay me to say this! I'm just a dude who appreciates strong and smart women (and men) who think about everyone else as well with their opinions. To the question of Is Trump a threat to American democracy? He's not alone in this and we all know it. There is a Constitutional law for Freedom of Speech and then there is a Federal law against instigating and supporting an act of terrorism and treason. We can't pick and choose what is a crime and what is not when it comes to our own fight for our own democracy and freedom. Trevor Noah said it eloquently during the WHCD just the other day. Go watch it if you haven't already!

Saw Esper's interview on 60 Minutes. What was most inexplicable was that despite everything he says he saw and experienced, he still couldn't bring himself to vote against Trump in 2020. Party before country, am I right?

More than "not speaking up" --- the fact is that these guys still voted for Trump and will vote for Trump.

Sara articulated the situation with profiting off of books so strongly and succinctly. She was on target with Woodward and if he came forward sooner it could have saved lives.
Some on the panel jumped down her throat. Her response that two things can be true at once was so true and excellent

I LOVE Sara! She does not have knee jerk reactions regarding how people should respond. She has found her voice and it's clear as crystal.

What's the point of speaking up AFTER the action? The damage is already done 😒

I appreciate Alyssa and Sara's comments. I think sometimes it's too easy to see the world in black-and-white. Yes, from the outside, as someone who values the truth and wishes the world ran on truth, no matter how uncomfortable truth makes me, I would've preferred those in power speak the truth and fight the bad guys openly. However, our society and its government are not founded on truth. And frankly, it appears the vast majority of American voters do not value truth and pragmatism. They want to be wooed and want to worship leaders and heroes. Americans choose candidates, who they could "have a beer with" and will tell them what they want to hear. Our system of government relies so much on good faith and norms that much of the wrongs Trump et al. committed were indeed wrong, anti-democratic, but NOT against the law. So, the individuals around Trump, who might have disagreed vehemently with Trump, had to make strategic choices on how to perform their duties to their country and the Constitution, while this existential threat to democracy and decency ran around unchecked by the legislative branch of government (who really is supposed to check executive power) and barely checked by the judicial branch of government. Seriously, without these gray characters in positions of power like Secretary of Defense, how many wars could've been started? By Tweet? Agree about the book thing and profiteering. That really taints credibility.

This is why I watch the view! Spirited debate. Yes, Sunny did cut off and over do her points by I think it was a good test to see if Alyssa would stand her ground and she did! One of my favorite guest contributors yet!

Wondering when we stop talking about what people should’ve done and start talking about a path forward. Things in this country are getting worse by the second…while both sides keep pointing fingers.

I agree Sara. They need to donate the money to the families of the people that lost loved ones on January 6th.

I agree with Sunny ‘I’m sick of this apology tour’. It’s all too little, too late.
They didn’t speak up when they should have and possibly made a difference.

I like Alyssa I disagree with her but she holds it down.

Uhhh, I agree with Alyssa Farah Griffin, resigning from the administration was not cowardice, it was doing what was safe.

I really like Alyssa. I think she’s a wonderful addition to the conversation and holds her own. Clearly she is a principled woman, who has her own opinions and stands up for what she believes. The fact her own father and step mother didn’t attend her wedding because she went against MAGA doctrine is & spoke out agains the “big lie”, demonstrates she won’t be manipulated.
Alyssa has a great deal of experience working in the government, risen the ranks on her own merits & has held high profile jobs that have prepared her to be strong member of the panel. She’s incredibly well spoken, respectful & se doesn’t push right talking points or misinformation.
Plus, she’s a lot of FUN!
