That was such a hard hit that the opposite side of the car bowed upon the impact from the 32.

That was one of the scariest crashes I've ever seen.

I'm so glad that we didn't lose Newman yesterday, and I pray for a full recovery.

i've been watching nascar for 11 years now, and that's the worst wreck i've ever seen. worse then dillon at daytona by a margin.

That was a big hit. It reminded me of the hit that Dale Earnhardt sr took at Talladega in 1996. Let's hope that Ryan Newman is ok.

It hurts because he almost won the race a win that he needed

Scary stuff, been watching Nascar since the mid 80's and that one top's Dillon's crash a few years back for me. Sadly I've seen a couple of fatal crashes trackside and this wreck gave me that same sickly feeling in the pit of my stomach. Was so glad to wake up this morning(race finished very late in UK time) to hear Newman is alive, let's hope he makes a full recovery

I remember watching this live on TV. It's a miracle that fuel didn't ignite with that open flame right there.

He was so close to being in the position where Dale sr wrecked

Ryan Newman is today's version of Elliott Sadler. Not a legend, but big enough that you know who they are, and they always end up in the worst wrecks possible (often a single-car or two-car crash as well).

I've watched NASCAR since the late 80s and though there are many who've watched since long before then, in the modern form of NASCAR I haven't seen a wreck so nasty and dangerous. People bringing up Dillon's crash as if it was anywhere near this scale. No. Newman got hit at 150+ in the DRIVER's side while upside down. Latest news is he's awake and talking with family, which is a good thing to hear, but I don't honestly see a return to driving this year or in the near future. This may be career ending, and that's fine, at least at the moment it isn't life ending.

And frankly, I'm not at all a fan of the guy, but you never want to see this kind of thing happen in your sport. Never.

So happy to have the knowledge that Ryan Newman was just cleared yesterday (April 27, 2020) for a full return to racing. I’m especially happy to see that he’s even alive after that. I questioned how he was alive as well. A miraculous comeback for the ages by Ryan Newman. I wish him, his team & his family all the success in the world in this miraculous comeback. Congrats on a remarkable recovery. Welcome back Ryan. You deserve it.

But now that that’s out of the way. I have to follow in Ryan’s footsteps (Ryan is known for being a jokester & was doing jokes with the nurses & doctors in the hospital) & do a joke here.

Mike Joy: “Here comes Ryan Newman”.

Me: “And boy is he hot under the collar. So hot that he’s on fire”.

Underground Rock Musician Sebastian Forslund: “Set this World On Fire”.

I was in front of the first impact. I also remember the '500 being postponed a day because of rain.

At 1:27 you can tell how hard danny hamlin was pushing Blaney and after that you can tell someone was going to get hurt or they would be a big crash

Got tested hard on safety here. Would have died three different ways here years ago. Head on wall hit, collision in driver's side, and the fuselage busting as a result. I have my issues with the safety first mentality but I'll admit it paid off great here. That was not a survivable wreck without pristine safety measures

I believe his car coming down on the corner after being hit saved his life instead of flat on roof/side

I was happy to see Newman walk out of the hospital after two days with his daughters.

Those celebrations are in pretty poor taste. Not surprised the crowd booed.
