Financial advice you don't hear any YouTubers mention: If you're still in school, try to maintain a decent grade point average because then you can qualify for interdepartmental scholarships/ bursaries that help you pay off the coming semester or year. You might not have a scholarship entering school but you can gain scholarships throughout your time there.

Always live below your means, no matter how financially comfortable you think you are.

Tips from an independent 19 year old:

1. Pay rent and bills early so you won’t accidentally loose out on that money having fun

2.Go to restaurants or coffee shops etc and take pictures of the recipes so you can make your favorite things at home ex: I make my own smoothies and salads from taking the recipes off menu boards

3. Buy in bulk because even if you live by yourself you will still need lots of supplies over time example: I live by myself but I buy family size toilet paper and trash bags etc so I hardly have to buy it

Also if you use a credit card make sure you have the money to pay for it. DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD IF YOU ARE BROKE!!!

School literally taught me nothing about finance (not even how to write a check). I honestly think that this is a part of capitalism, keep us dumb and spending frivolously.

My best financial advice yet is to get rid of all leeches. Financial leeches, time leeches, emotional leeches everything. Spending time with people that have bad spending habits, that aren't in the same situation as you, with the same mentality never works out. That's the moment you notice people are insensintive and all you're doing is chasing a lifestyle, their lifestyle. It's always important that while you're with people to remember what tf your wallet look like and to maintain you're boundaries.

1. Learn a job to have a passive income
2. Become financially independent asap (have your own money, do your own choice)
3. POC have a negative start, the game is not fair and you need to work harder
4. Stockpile your money + live below your means. Buy stuff that brings returns = investments. Owning is always financially better.
5. Invest in things that make you feel productive ☀️ identify the items that don't really benefit you
6. Always pay in full.the credit balance, set an autopay. Pay it off.
7. Invest in yourself, in your projects. You could save 10% for your investment fund.
8. Diversify your income ☀️
9. Pay off debt that has the highest RPA rate or the smallest balance (snowball method)
10. Monitor your credit
11. Budget your monthly expenses (nb. personally I adore the Fastbudget app - she advices Mynt, which is not available in Europe) + use a robo invester
12.

It makes me mad how few views your recent videos have. Whether you are an active traveler or not, this is quality content.

THANK YOU for giving tips to those of us who grew up in poverty AND are immigrants and POC. It's hard to follow typical books and tips because the audience is not us... THIS IS A GODSEND <3 I appreciate this.

To quote Mr. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, "You can't afford something unless you can buy it twice"

Also: always pay your interest with your base payment. If you have a monthly bill of $100 for a loan, and the loan has 8% interest, your bill is not actually $100, it's $108. It also affects your credit score.

This generation NEEDS to listen to this. In every language ASAP. Thank you Jo, because this is so real and so frustating to people that start under 0. My life is starting now that I passed that line. I'm investing in studies now, going to college to start growing from that. That's what I love to do and with this tips, I think I'm going higher with them. So thank you ❤

Research the 50/30/20 rule !! Basically, 50% of your income would go to your expenses/ debt,
30% to your investments,
and 20% to your savings 💫

So many people act like immigrants and low income people are just sitting around and not doing anything which is not true at all! We need to show the new generations of children that they can break the cycle💗🙌🏾
