Saw ELO live in '82. They opened with this, had a little robot wheeling around to recite the Prologue!

I just had a very surreal experience listening to this song for the "first" time. I hear the moment starting at 1:15 and I push myself with my legs 5 feet behind on a rolling chair over carpet. I'm smiling incredibly wide. Then I hear the beginning of the lyrics at 1:30 and I start crying with large teardrops. Do you wonder why? I must have heard this incredible song when i was 2 or 3 and haven't heard it since. It brought back memories I had completely forgotten about.

Thank you ELO.

"Just on the border of your waking mind, there lies another time, where darkness and light are one. And as you tread the halls of sanity you feel so glad to be unable to go beyond. I have a message from another time."

This album was 36 years ahead of it's time. It sounds like it could have been produced and recorded yesterday! Play this one at full volume!

Just on the border of your waking mind
There lies... Another time
Where darkness & light are one
And as you tread the halls of sanity
You feel so glad to be
Unable to go beyond
I have a message
From another time...

The visions dancing in my mind
The early dawn, the shades of time
Twilight crawling through my windowpane
Am I awake or do I dream?
The strangest pictures I have seen
Night is day and twilight's gone away

With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies
It's either real or it's a dream
There's nothing that is in between...

Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind
Away from me.

Across the night I saw your face
You disappeared without a trace
You brought me here, but can you take me back?
Inside the image of your light
That now is day and once was night
You lead me here and then you go away.

Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind Away from me.

(You brought me here, but can you take me back again?)

With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies

Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind Away from me.

Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, Twilight, Twilight, Twilight.

Would it be blasphemous to say that I like this even more than Turn to Stone, Sweet Talking Woman, Evil Woman, Don't Bring Me Down, and every other ELO song?

This sounds like the song in which some 80s style sci-fi spaceships would just duke it out with their lasers.

This song definitely has 80's nostalgia written all over it.

30 plus years on I am still listening to ELO. Jeff Lynne is undoubtedly as great as Lennon / Mccartney!

This sounds like this could be the intro of an Green Lantern movie (that's actually good this time.) The whole sci fi fantasy vibe to this fits perfectly. Gotta be all four of the lanterns though.

I went to see ELO back in the eighties when they had just released this album. I have to say I was a real sceptic regarding how they could ever re produce that sound on stage.... I came away absolutely blown away! They were and still are a fantastic band! Talked about it for years on end!
