From Airbus site :"A minimum of 23 knots (42 km/h) crosswind must be demonstrated at take off and landing for its Type Certification that is expected in mid-December.

MSN004, one of the five developmental A380 aircraft, carried out a series of six landings and five take-offs with crosswinds above 40 knots (74 km/h), gusting up to 56 knots (104 km/h), which is considerably higher than the value required for Type Certification. During the tests, the A380 was put through its paces, and it showed that it will be able to operate easily with very strong crosswinds during normal operations. This is the first time an Airbus aircraft has performed tests in such crosswind conditions" The A380 is more than capable, credit to the pilots as well, but she has a legion of very sophisticated aids assisting. Undisputed queen of the skies

I just started my pilot training. That is some nice work! Even in a simulator I would have went to my alternate airport! You deserve a raise!

What is the probability that he would land that plane safely? If the landing had an unhappy ending, then people would exclaim what poor judgment the pilot displayed, rather than expressing awe at his skill.

Not terribly unusual for aviation enthusiasts. There are loads of cross-wind videos on Youtube but sure, it's always impressive to see a big A380 or 747 crabbing in.

One of the best planes for a situation like this but also credits to the pilots. This takes years and skill to perform a maneuver like this ( sad the A380’s are getting kicked out everywhere tho )

I do not appreciate being on a plane landing like this. It's very uneasy and that flip when you touch down is awful. I know the planes can take it but if not in a hurry I'd prefer they didn't land like this.

Unless you were inside the aircraft, your information is wrong. An empty A380 weighs 276, 800 tonnes empty and approximately 560 tonnes loaded. And contrary to what is said, he did not land on his side. It was simply filmed by spotters, with camera tele lenses that oversize the images; also called perspective distortion. It's very simple: Just review the video, that when it touches the ground, the nose turns a maximum of 10 or 15 degrees to align with the track
