Horizon Forbidden West is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Its release date is 18 February 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn (2017), it features an open world in a post-apocalyptic western United States. In this video DreamcastGuy does a Brutally Honest Review of Horizon Forbidden West for the PS4 Pro, Ps5, also known as the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 pro. This talks about gameplay, story without spoilers, and great graphics. Horizon Forbidden West received positive reviews from critics, with many praising the open world, story, side quests, updated mechanics, and overhauled cinematic cutscenes. Horizon Forbidden West is an action role-playing game played from the third-person perspective. Players control Aloy, a huntress in a world populated by dangerous, animalistic machines. In an open world, she explores the mysterious frontier known as the Forbidden West, a post-apocalyptic version of the western United States, specifically the states of California, Nevada, and Utah. The map is larger than in the previous game, filled with secrets that lie beneath ruins from the world of the Old Ones. It has a multitude of recognizable locations including a ruined San Francisco and the Yosemite Valley with various biomes. One of the main additions to the sequel is underwater exploration.[4][5] The sequel has enhanced melee combat, revamped climbing mechanics, and improved traversal options with the Valor Surge system, freeform climbing, and tools such as the Shieldwing, Focus Scanner, Diving Mask, and Pullcaster. The mission structure for quests better supports variety in objectives with compelling reward systems. It has improved animation works and cinematics.

Looks truly amazing! Can’t believe how much more there is to the game. Looks like a love letter to us fans

Based on what you say and the gameplay footage, the game looks absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I will definitely will be playing this once I finish the first since I am in "stop buying games if you have the older one already and haven't finished it yet" mindset. Excellent review ✨

9/10 is a great score I liked the first game this looks like more of what I liked but better combat looks better with more options the skills trees will definitely be fun the world itself looks beautiful. Hopefully the story grabs me yeah definitely looking forward to this

Glad to hear about the new features and scale of the game. The game looks amazing! With that said I was just really bored with the dialect from Zero Dawn. I really hope the characters are more interesting this time around. The combat seems even better and well improved. Sounds like a really solid experience.

Great way to start the week. Glad to hear this builds off the first one. Haven't visited the Horizon series so I definitely need to add this series to the queue. The Game of the Year lineup will be curious this year.

By contrast the IGN reviewers felt the storytelling was significantly improved in this game. Zero Dawn did devolve into a series of hard sci-fi exposition dumps by the final act.

I loved the original HZD game and was the first one I got a platinum trophy on. I think that they improved all of the mechanics of the first game. I see a lot of people saying they could not get into the first game but are interested in this one. Listen, if you didn't like the first one due to the story or plot I doubt you will like the second. The plot and storyline are what got me into the first game and made me overlook the other weaker elements.

Looks great and I am very hyped to play it as well. I love how you casually leave the horse in the water around 9:30 lol. I think we all left the mounts in odd places in the first game since you don't form a real attachment to one but it's just funny IMO.

So far all of th3se reviews seem genuine, and I appreciate the honesty between these reviews.
Can't wait until release.

For my initial impressions, I would give this game an 8 or 8.5 out of 10 which is in line with my expectations. Everything is bigger & better feels more "RPG" than the 1st game. Really enjoying the world building so far.

I definitely remember losing my breath a few times playing the first game where I was not sure if I had a health issue or just the magic and awe of the game itself.

great review i been waiting on this game for a few years, im glad it’s not just DLC and some new gadgets but expound on the storyline and make the issues of the area more global and not just on a island 🏝 of natives.

Thank you for reviewing this game 🙏🏽 all the nooks and cranny of this game, all the good and bad, how the controls are, you definitely told us everything.

My problem with the game is they've made an amazing world. Absolutely beautiful that I rarely actually took in because I was following a check point only to fight or find a box to push or pull into place. Not to mention the absolutely urgent main story in which you have time to fix a radio for a stranger. (Very vague for spoilers) but essentially a side quest of dozens of fetch quests that all play out the same.

I love the lore of the game! The info on the world has pulled me in and I'm ready to see what happens next in this whole story!

My wife and I loved the first game. I think we played through around 3 or 4 times I think. We got the collectors edition for HZD and pre-ordered the collectors for PS5, come

Great review. Your enthusiasm for the experience really comes through. Thanks man.

Is it worth collecting and upgrading immediately, or should I wait until I actually enter The Forbidden West? I ask this because I've got a feeling we'll start off with all out equipment and lose it (probably in a ship wreck). Please don't answer the second thought, just the initial question. :)
